Terms and Conditions
These terms govern the use of the website www.camia.design and the purchase of pieces and commissions from Camía, a floral art and wooden pieces studio working in Costa Rica. Before confirming any order, we ask you to confirm that you have read and accept these terms. If anything is unclear, write to us at [email protected] before you buy.
Who we are
Camía is a signature studio led by Sylvia Jiménez. We work in floral art and wooden pieces. Everything is made by hand, piece by piece.
We work in Costa Rica and only by appointment. We have no storefront open to the public: every commission begins with a conversation.
- Trade name: Camía, floral art and wooden pieces studio.
- Website: www.camia.design
- Email: [email protected]
- Service by prior appointment, arranged by email.
How to commission a piece
The website showcases the studio’s work. Most of what we do is made to order, so the process starts with a message, not a button.
Tell us what you need, when you need it, and the space the piece is for. With that, we prepare a written proposal with a description of the work, the materials, the total price, and the lead time. That proposal is what governs.
The order is confirmed when you accept the proposal in writing and the agreed payment is recorded. Until then, there is no order and no date is reserved.
- Before you pay, you receive in writing the details of the piece, the lead time, the price, any additional charges, and the total. If you pay through the website, the same details appear on screen before you confirm.
- Within those details, you can correct any error or cancel at no cost.
- We don't use pre-checked boxes or add services you haven't requested.
- You can save or print these terms and the proposal before accepting them.
- Without your express acceptance of these terms, the order will not be processed.
- Once the order is confirmed, we send you written proof of the contract.
- For legal purposes, the purchase is considered made where you live: you can file any claim there, without having to travel elsewhere.
Prices, currency, and taxes
Prices include VAT (IVA) and are stated in the currency indicated in each proposal or purchase summary. That is where the price of the piece, the taxes, and any charges for transportation, installation, or special materials are itemized separately.
Sometimes the price can’t be calculated in advance, for example for an installation that depends on the space or on flower availability. In those cases, the proposal explains how it is calculated, before you accept. For services, the cost is provided broken down into materials and labor.
Each proposal states how long the price remains valid. Once that date has passed, a new quote is required.
Payment and receipts
Payment is made through the methods enabled on the website or those agreed in writing in the proposal.
Card payments are processed by a payment gateway, which is identified at the time of payment. Card details go directly to the gateway: the studio does not store full card numbers or security codes.
The connection to the website and to the payment process is encrypted using a digital certificate. You can see who issued that certificate from the padlock in your browser’s address bar.
No system is infallible. Encryption protects the transmission, but it does not eliminate risks such as the use of compromised devices, public networks, or third-party access to your own email account.
We issue an electronic receipt for every sale. For that, we need your full name and your identification number.
Production, lead times, and delivery
The production time and the delivery or installation date are set in writing in the proposal, before you accept, and that date is the one that applies. No order is confirmed without an accepted lead time.
If for any reason a payment is completed before we have set the lead time, we will confirm it to you in writing on that same business day. If you do not agree with that date, we cancel and refund one hundred percent of what you paid.
If we fail to meet the agreed lead time, the contract is considered breached and we refund all the money received, with no deductions.
The place and time of delivery are coordinated with you. Inspect the piece when you receive it and let us know as soon as you notice anything unusual: the sooner we see it, the easier it is to resolve. Letting us know later does not cause you to lose the warranty.
Shipping and coverage
Delivery is made by the studio or by a transportation service, depending on the piece and the destination. The shipping area, method, and cost are confirmed in the proposal and in the purchase summary, separately from the price of the piece, before you pay.
We coordinate the day and time window with you. If no one is available to receive the delivery on the agreed date, we will write to you that same day to reschedule it.
Cancellations, right of withdrawal, and warranty
You may withdraw from your purchase within the eight business days following confirmation of the order, that is, from the day you accepted the proposal in writing and the payment was recorded. You do not have to give any explanation or pay any penalty.
To notify us, the same channel you used to place the order is enough; an email to [email protected] also counts. What matters is that there is a record of the date of the notice.
Two rules are worth knowing in advance. Pieces made to measure or by special commission are not subject to withdrawal once they have been made; if production is in progress, you may withdraw by paying for the work already done. And natural flowers, being perishable, are not subject to withdrawal once delivered and used.
For services, the right of withdrawal applies as long as the service has not been provided. If the work was agreed in stages, it covers the part not yet performed, and we refund that money.
Everything we make carries a legal warranty of at least thirty business days, counted from delivery of the item or from provision of the service. Full details, including time frames, exceptions, and how refunds are made, are on the returns page.
Nature of the pieces and liability
We work with living materials and with our hands. That means variation, and variation is not a defect.
We are responsible for manufacturing defects and for what we offered in the proposal. We are not responsible for damage resulting from use other than as indicated, exposure to sun or extreme humidity, impacts after delivery, or modifications made by third parties. Nothing stated here limits the legal warranty or your rights as a consumer.
- The grain, tone, and knots of the wood vary from one piece to another.
- Natural flowers vary in size, openness, and tone depending on the season; if a variety is not available, we propose an equivalent before production.
- The photographs on the website are for illustration only, and colors may look different depending on your screen.
- Wood and flowers respond to humidity and their surroundings. We include care instructions with every piece we deliver.
- We do not promise an exact lifespan for natural flowers: it depends on care, climate, and handling.
Website content, claims, and governing law
The images, texts, designs, and pieces published on www.camia.design are the studio’s work. They may not be reproduced, copied, or used for commercial purposes without written permission. Commissioning a piece does not transfer the copyright in its design.
If you send us photographs or references, we understand that you have the right to share them and that you authorize us to use them to prepare and produce your commission. If we would also like to show them as part of our work, we will ask you separately.
For any complaint or claim, write to us at [email protected] or through the same channel you used to make your purchase. The process is free of charge. We will confirm that we received your message and, in that same acknowledgment, tell you how long it will take us to resolve it. Our response is always in writing.
You can share your review of our work by writing to [email protected]. We publish every review we receive, positive and negative, without filtering or deleting any.
These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, in particular Ley 7472 de Promoción de la Competencia y Defensa Efectiva del Consumidor (Law for the Promotion of Competition and Effective Consumer Protection) and its regulations. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may turn to the Comisión Nacional del Consumidor (National Consumer Commission) of the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Comercio (Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce).
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one that was published when you accepted the proposal. If you have any questions, write to us at [email protected].
