About

A floral design studio in Costa Rica that also works in wood

At Camía, flowers and wood are thought through the same way, and they come together best side by side. We are a floral design studio in Costa Rica, and we work to commission, one project at a time.

01

Who is behind the studio

The studio is led by Sylvia Jiménez, owner of Karjim Group and Camía’s lead artist. These aren’t two separate companies that happen to share an owner: it’s the same author in two crafts. Camía is the hand that composes the piece; Karjim is the operation that installs it.

There is no row of arrangements waiting for a client. Every project starts from a blank page, with the space, the light, and the date on the table.

Why flowers and wood

Flowers are living material: they have a season, they last as long as they last, and they change from one day to the next. Wood is the opposite—it is measured, cut, and repeated—and that’s why it brings order to what the flowers set in motion.

Composing with both forces you to think in volume, not just color. A centerpiece stops being a bunch of flowers stuck in a vase and becomes a piece with its own base, height, and weight.

We work with pine and with other natural materials that come in depending on the project.

How we work

The process is short and always follows the same steps.

None of them is skipped. Without a date and a place there is no proposal, because the proposal is drawn for that place.

Our aesthetic

Less noise. Deep green, ivory, raw wood, and gold only where it’s needed. We’d rather have three materials well placed than twelve competing.

That doesn’t mean small arrangements: it means every stem has a reason to be there. A focal point can be enormous and still be restrained.

Part of Karjim Group

Camía and Karjim Group are part of the same group and share an owner. We also share the same kind of client: hotels, restaurants, offices, and destination weddings.

In practice, this means a project can be coordinated with the rest of the group when the client needs it, and that the person who signs the composition is the same person behind the group.

If you want to see how we think through a project before you hire us, the first appointment is exactly that.
